Biggest mistake...

What have I done?!

So, back in february or march, Roberta and I watched a Japanese new year's show called Johnny's 2005-2006 Countdown which featured artists from a talent agency called Johnny's entertainment. There was this song that was being sung by a group of 8 people in bright orange outfits accompanied by outrageous hand movements. At the time, we thought, "What the hell is this?". Then, Roberta had to use the washroom and while she was gone, this song kept playing over and over again and to my disgust, I found that it was catchy and couldn't stop listening to it. Its just that those people seemed so happy. When she came back and I told her that the song was catchy... she gave me this 'are you CRAZY?!?!?' look of disbelief. So I youtubed the music video and found out that the song was called "Sukiyanen, Osaka" by a group called Kanjani8. I love watching this video, especially when I'm sad, because they have so much fun with it and it makes me happy. Coupled with the fact that it looks extremely low budget because the video consists of scenes cut from their concert and commercial. I also found that this group was "oppressed" and despite that, still became successful.

Anyways... in the video, they make hand motions like this

The song is really about Osaka, which is a city in Japan, but its really the hand motions and how happy they are that make this video great. I showed Dorothy and Yvonne and they thought it was hilarious because its so fun. Yvonne enjoyed it so much, she told me to make her a cd of Japanese music. I put this song as the very first. The other day she comes to pick me up so that I can go with her to run errands. I gave her the cd... and she pops it into the car cd player. And when they sing the very first line... She makes the above hand motion along with the music, EXCEPT THAT SHE IS DRIVING!!! and takes her hands off the wheel... and in this song, they repeat the hand motion many, many times. I was so scared! She also keeps looping the song... Seriously, biggest mistake ever. And I know that Dorothy will probably put this song in a car cd too and do the exact same thing ... !!

Don't get me wrong, I still love this song... and I think its great that they love it. Even hilarious, that they can dance along to it... cause its a fun song :)
