Summerlicious II...Fred's Not Here

Finally the last summerlicious event... I went to Fred's Not Here w/ my laurier friends on Sat. July 23/05. It was pretty good, I had Osso Buco (pork shoulder) for main, grilled calamari for appetizer and chocolate cheesecaked for dessert. All in all it was pretty good for $20 although service was a BIT slow...dinner took us 3.5 hours!! It was a nice atmosphere, although the restaurant itself was very dark, i guess they were trying to purvey a high class atmosphere but that was sort of ruined when Alex and Godfrey kept making toasts w/ their glasses "...TO PANTS" Oh, and a Happy Belated Birthday goes to Edgar. And on a totally random note, I found someone who also watches Yakitake Japan and loves it, Godfrey's gf! ...so I'm no totally weird :)

And down she goes...

So I went to Centre Island on Wed after not having gone in years. There was suck nice weather that day so David and I decided we should do something productive and get some exercise. We started the day with a tennis fiasco (see belowfor details) and then went downtown to the harbour and boarded the ferry. We then rented bikes which had funny handle bars and rode around the island which was really great. However, at one point we were going too slow and I lost control when my bike got caught in the divider between dirt and cement and I fell down...hard on my hand and knees. Thankfully, no blood but a few little red marks to show where there would be bruises. Two days later and on my knee there is a patch of black and blue the size of my hand... man... I'm so clumsy ...but all in all it was a fun experience :) Hopefully I can do something fun my next wed off!

And some pictures...

Tennis anyone?

I just realised that I SUCK at tennis. Sure, I used to take lessons, but apparently I've forgotten everything I've learned. I played this morning with David, and as I predicted I couldn't last more than 15 minutes without turning all red and having breathing problems :( What's worse is that everytime the ball would come towards me I would have badminton reactions, that is react to the ball as how I would react to a birdy coming towards me...except that the racket is much heavier and requires more power...so I think I hurt my wrist... AND I kept hitting balls over the extremely high metal fence but couldn't even hit balls towards my cousin... ahahahaha... and when I did hit the ball to him one would be extreme right and the other extreme left since I had no control in aiming, atleast he got some great exercise from running to the extreme left and right of the court :)

Summerlicious thus far...

Last week I went to summerlicious with my Abbey friends at Old Mill Inn. The food was pretty good, though it wasn't the most amazing thing in the world. For $35, I had poached asparagus w/ smoked salmon for appetizer, boccacini stuff chicken wrapped in prosciutto w/ truffle mashed potatoes and panna cotta w/ brandied peaches for dessert. All in all I think it was good, since I got to see old friends again... Here are some pictures:

Also went to the Rosewater Supperclub last week with David for $20 summerlicious lunch, that was actually pretty interesting, as the decor was very nice. There was pea soup with white truffle oil for appetizer, veal with potato mash and orange cream profiteroles for dessert. I think I really enjoy trying all these new things with summerlicious and its alot more affordable than if we were to go normally. We also went to St. Lawrence market after and made fresh pasta at David's house. We tried our hand at fresh ravioli which we thought would turn out to be a disaster since the shapes were off. David thought they would explode in the water cause I didn't pack them tight enough :S But actually they turned out pretty well :) but making pasta from scratch requires alot of effort and I don't know if I'd do it again any time soon.

How Refreshing

After a long long time, I have finally decided that I should try my hand at blogging again. And I figure 'why not?' ... I need a place to rant and rave. But for some weird reason...I have nothing to rant and rave about. well, I guess that's a LIE since I'll always have Discount to rave about, but I guess I can't put that frustration into words right now.

Well, it finally rained today which is great, since it was starting to get really sticky and gross, although I did get caught in the rain which wasn't fun at the time but now that I look back on that I guess it was necessary. Hopefully the smogginess that is Toronto will clear and I will be able to breathe again.

Bleach comes out today...hope it's worth the wait!
